Rotary Club of Washington Global in Taiwan!

RCWG Members with the RI President at the booth in Taipei.

RCWG members Rose, Mari, Mike, Tony and Fatima were thrilled to attend the Rotary International Convention in Taiwan. The four-day event attracted more than 38,000 people from 140 countries and regions, making it one of Rotary’s largest conventions in recent years.

Keynote speakers included Malala Yousafzai, the youngest-ever Nobel Peace Prize laureate and a leading advocate for girls’ education, and Salome Agbaroji, the 2023-24 National Youth Poet Laureate of the United States, who performed her poem “HOPE.”

Our club was well represented in various break-out sessions, District social gatherings, and in booths and presentations in the House of Friendship (HOF). This included: Tony and Mike at the HOF's RCWG booth. Among other activities, they promoted our club's Foldscope initiative to get cardboard microscopes into developing country classrooms. Tony also spoke on a Break-out panel On Using Technology as a Tool to Enhance Learning. Mari was a proactive contributor to the Rotary Action Group for Peace and Mike as a member of the advisory group for Partnering for Peace (Peace Corps and Rotary). Rose contributed to various sessions including a presentation at the environmental booth of Rotary at COP31 and an interview with Rotary's Gathering Voices. Enjoy the photo gallery below, and until next time!
