RCWG members Rose, Mari, Mike, Tony and Fatima were thrilled to attend the Rotary International Convention in Taiwan. The four-day event attracted more than 38,000 people from 140 countries and regions, making it one of Rotary’s largest conventions in recent years.
Keynote speakers included Malala Yousafzai, the youngest-ever Nobel Peace Prize laureate and a leading advocate for girls’ education, and Salome Agbaroji, the 2023-24 National Youth Poet Laureate of the United States, who performed her poem “HOPE.”
Our club was well represented in various break-out sessions, District social gatherings, and in booths and presentations in the House of Friendship (HOF). This included: Tony and Mike at the HOF's RCWG booth. Among other activities, they promoted our club's Foldscope initiative to get cardboard microscopes into developing country classrooms. Tony also spoke on a Break-out panel On Using Technology as a Tool to Enhance Learning. Mari was a proactive contributor to the Rotary Action Group for Peace and Mike as a member of the advisory group for Partnering for Peace (Peace Corps and Rotary). Rose contributed to various sessions including a presentation at the environmental booth of Rotary at COP31 and an interview with Rotary's Gathering Voices.
