About the Event

The Power of All of Us Data: Exploring the Comprehensive Impact of Diabetes, Social Factors, and Culinary Medicine on Overall Health

Funded by the National Institute of Health (NIH)

In the fall of 2023, Dr. Fatima Barnes (PI) from the Louis Stokes Health Sciences Library and Kimberly Prosper (co-PI) from the Undergraduate Library received $44,500 from the National Institutes of Health for equipment support to promote All of Us data training and engagement for the Howard University community.

This presentation is part of the funded study and will focus on the comprehensive effects of diabetes on overall health, including its impact from head to toe. We will also delve into a detailed analysis of social determinants of health (SDOH) and their correlation with heart and blood conditions and diabetes. The promising outcomes related to nutrition education through Culinary Medicine partnerships between medical schools and communities will also be highlighted.
