About the Event

Join us for a meaningful community service experience that uses the power of poetry to uplift and connect.
We’ll begin with a conversation featuring formerly incarcerated Poet Ambassadors, who will share their personal stories and perform original poems, along with powerful pieces written by Free Minds members currently in the federal prison system. Their voices offer a unique window into resilience, hope, and transformation.
Following the discussion, participants will take part in a hands-on service activity: reading poems written by incarcerated members and writing thoughtful, encouraging comments. These messages will be mailed back by Free Minds staff, letting the writers know that their words matter and that they are not forgotten.
This project is a chance to make a real impact through empathy, creativity, and community.
