About the Event

Rotary Peace Fellow and Ambassadorial Scholar Pushpi Weerakoon will lead an engaging discussion on the vital role played by frontline peace-builders in global crisis management, stabilization, and social cohesion.


Drawing on nearly two decades of international experience—from leading UN emergency response programs to facilitating national reconciliation policies—Pushpi will share key lessons learned from frontline peace initiatives spanning Asia, Europe, the Middle East, the Caribbean, the Pacific, and the Americas.

  • Global UN & Development Leadership: IOM Officer in Charge & Gender/PSEA focal point in the Pacific, Head of Stabilization & Protection in the Bahamas, and lead strategist for emergency displacement, social cohesion and reparations frameworks in Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Iraq, Haiti and El Salvador.

  • National Policy & Diplomacy: Coordinator for Sri Lanka’s first Open Government Partnership (OGP) National Action Plan and the Presidential Secretariat's National Reconciliation Policy.
