About the Event

John Kirkpatrick is a member of the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) Patent Pro Bono Team and a staff attorney in the USPTO’s Office of Enrollment and Discipline.   As a member of the Patent Pro Bono Team, Mr. Kirkpatrick works to help financially under-resourced inventors’ access free patent legal services provided by volunteer patent practitioners.  As a staff attorney of the Office of Enrollment and Discipline, he investigates alleged misconduct among patent and trademark practitioners who represent others before the USPTO.

Previously, Mr. Kirkpatrick served as a patent examiner in the area of displays and computer input devices and was employed by a private intellectual property firm.  Mr. Kirkpatrick received his undergraduate degree in electrical engineering from Villanova University and graduated, cum laude, from The Catholic University of America, Columbus School of Law.  He is a member of the Virginia State Bar.  Prior to entering the intellectual property field, Mr. Kirkpatrick was an information technology specialist with the United States Department of Agriculture.
