About the Event
Mark Kelly is a Foreign Service Officer with the United States Agency for International Development; currently serving as Stabilization Advisor with the USAID response in Syria. During his 13 years with USAID, Mark has served in Guatemala and Afghanistan as an agricultural development specialist as well as in the Pentagon as Deputy Development Advisor to the Office of the Secretary of Defense. Prior to joining USAID, Mark worked for the U.S. Department of Agriculture on programs in Mexico and Afghanistan, and Bulgaria. He received a BS in Marine Biology and a BA in Psychology from the University of North Carolina Wilmington. He holds a Masters in Wildlife and Fisheries and a PhD in International Agriculture from Texas A&M University, where he also worked on Norman Borlaug Institute programs in Indonesia. As a Fulbright Scholar, he studied farmed salmon behaviors for the Norwegian Institute of Marine Research.
